Organisations and initiatives create custom map projects where members add 'spots' (points of interest) on a shared map. Each project chooses the components it needs, so Parry can power open citizen participation or serve as a purely internal organising tool.

Yes. Voting is an optional component. With it switched off, Parry is a collaborative mapping and organising tool for a team, initiative, or organisation. Switch the voting component on and the same map becomes a citizen-participation project where members prioritise spots with quadratic voting.

How does voting on Parry work?

When a project enables the voting component, Parry uses quadratic voting (also called plural voting), in partnership with RadicalxChange. Members spend a limited budget of tokens; each additional vote on the same spot costs more (1 vote = 1 token, 2 votes = 4 tokens, 3 votes = 9 tokens), so people can express how strongly they feel, not just yes or no.

A spot is a point of interest on a project's map — for example a dangerous school route, a challenging cycling spot, or a place to plant trees — that members can see, discuss, and (when voting is enabled) vote on.
